THE BEST TOYS IN LIFE ARE FREE!

A is for acoustic tile - with colored golf tees for a pegboard
B is for Band-aides - the all-time toy with endless uses
C is for Clothespins - the plain kind without springs and splinter free
D is for Dough -half flour-half salt - with enough water kneaded in to make a
Dough the children can roll and cut
E is for Egg Beater - the dime store kind plus a bowl of water and soap flakes
to make noise and bubbles
F is for Findings - buttons, beads, rickrack, shells, to string, arrange, sort or paste to a collage
G is for gravel - to put into a bottle and make a great shaker
H is for Hats - discarded ones for dress-up or decorating
I is for indoor tents - with blankets or throws over a table or desk
J is for Jello - children can "cook" and finger-paint with
K is for Keys - an old set that children can try on all doors or for a "sheriff" to hang on a belt
L is for Ladder - to make into a ramp
M is for Macaroni - fun to sort or paint with a brush or dye in a bowl of
vegetable coloring and paste on a juice can or cardboard box
N is for Nutshells - walnut halves especially, they make an excellent tub
fleet
O is for Orange Crate - which soon becomes a doll house, airplane,
Dog house or zoo
P is for Plastic - freezer containers, bottles, and wastebaskets to be filled
with rice, sand or water
Q is for Quilt - an old one to cut doors and windows in and drape it to make
a castle
R is for Rubber Stamps - endlessly interesting
S is for Spools - saved from a sewing basket. They can be painted &
decorated and make good wheels for a train
T is for Tools - a good hammer, a pair of pliers and a wrench can be the
making of a young carpenter's rainy day indoors
U is for Utensils - from the kitchen, measuring spoons and cups, wooden
spoons, cookie cutters and molds all to make music with
V is for Vests - left-over from old suits to play dress-up in
W is for Wallpaper - samples to cut and paste and decorate with
X Is for X-Mass cards - saved from years past and ready to cut and make
decorations with
Y is for Yours - anything that is yours is coveted by your children. The check
book, the stapler, the computer, the paper clips.
Z is for Zipper - on a purse to play-eventually will teach to zip your jacket
the same way
