What makes a good childcare provider?A childcare provider must be many things. People unfamiliar with our center may think that loving kids is the only skill required. Love is very important but as experts we know that there is much more to it. We are holders of the most important and difficult job in our society. We help raise our future; we care for children, nurture them and help them grow. This takes a very special person. The qualities of the people at DayCaring can best be summed up as: 1. Having a genuine respect for children. 2. Having a keen interest in child development: effective caregivers know how children learn and develop best. 3. Having a strong sense of reality. Realistic caregivers know there will always be ups and downs. Because working with young children daily is not easy. This is a job that requires practice, training, and skill. 4. Having a flexible nature. Children grow best surrounded with people who understand and provide an environment that flows with their emotional, physical and social swings. 5. Having a courageous soul: young children tend to be very unpredictable. In order to maintain safe and caring space, childcare providers must constantly be prepared to handle the unexpected. 6. Having stamina and everlasting energy. Our kids have it and we must keep up with them. 7. Having good mental health. To be truly effective, a provider must examine and solve and heal some of the wounded child - inside themselves. 8. Having compatibility. The pressure of being with children who need all day can be overwhelming without a great support system. Our staff is hired based on their ability to look through the child's eyes but also on the basis of being a good match with each other, and of being supportive and nurturing of all within the program. 9. Having a strong sense of humor. When pressures build up and things threaten to fall apart; adults must be able to sit back and find humor and joy in the actions of our little ones. And that's what sets us apart: DayCaring where we care everyday. |
